Vice President JD Vance has come under fire for showing support for singer Kid Rock as his sickening lyrics about “underage” girls resurfaced.
The country star is headlining Turning Point USA’s conservative Super Bowl LX halftime show, which was put together as a protest against the official NFL show featuring Bad Bunny as the headliner on February 8.
Sharing a post about the alternative show on X Vance wrote, “Fantastic lineup for the TPUSA halftime show, including the great Bob Ritchie AKA KID ROCK.”
Viewers of the post were less than impressed by the vice president endorsing Kid Rock, especially in light of his 1997 song Daddy Cool resurfacing with some controversial lyrics.
Democratic Rep. Shri Thanedar pointed out the lyrics as he wrote, “This is who the Vice President is promoting. No surprise here, sounds like the kind of guy he’d normally be sucking up to.” The song in question includes the wording, “Young ladies, young ladies, I like ‘em underage, see, some say that’s statutory (But I say it’s mandatory).”
Other lyrics featured in the song – a collaboration with late rapper Joe-C – include, “You know I got that gangsta lean / H—, they all adore me, I stop and they all swarm me / To check out all my fly gold rings / They treat me like the mayor ’cause I’m the biggest player.”
Cool, Daddy Cool was released in 2001 as part of the soundtrack for the animated children’s movie Osmosis Jones, which starred Bill Murray and Chris Rock.
The song has been shared on social media, with critics on X slamming Kid Rock. “Not a good look…” one person posted alongside a screengrab of the song’s lyrics.
“MAGA has to be the greatest living contradiction of a political party,” someone else said following Kid Rock’s support of President Donald Trump.
A third critic admitted, “And with that pic & those lyrics, I just threw up in my mouth,” as someone else hit out, writing, “This is repulsive.”
Another person shared on X, “Fun Fact: Kid Rock once literally sang “I like ’em underage” — including on a song tied to a kids’ movie soundtrack — but MAGA is upset about Bad Bunny because he speaks Spanish.”
The 55-year-old will be joined by Brantley Gilbert, Lee Brice and Gabby Barrett at the urning Point USA’s alternative Super Bowl halftime show, dubbed The All-American Halftime Show, which will air at the same time as the NFL championship game’s halftime show.
