PUTNEY — Join in for a celebration of Zydeco music at the Vermont Zydeco Party. Two of area’s top Zydeco bands will bring their rhythms and high-energy performances to Next Stage on Saturday, Oct. 11, from 3 to 8:30 p.m. Set in the Community Room with its wooden floors, there’s plenty of room to dance and enjoy this unique music style.
For newcomers, there’s a beginner Zydeco dance lesson at 3 p.m. The music starts at 3:30 p.m. with ZydeGroove. This band brings the spirit of Country Zydeco to the stage, playing music straight from the roots of the genre.
At 6 p.m.., Michael Seider and Anna Sapozhnikova will be leading a special Whiskey River Jitterbug lesson. Seider, who lived and taught Zydeco in New Orleans for years, will guide attendees through this lively dance.
At 6:30 p.m., Planet Zydeco will take the audience on a journey through the heart of Louisiana’s rural dance halls, playing traditional accordion-driven music described as both funky and infectious, featuring a blend of up-tempo songs, soulful blues, and traditional waltzes.
