Rocker Jack White on Monday tore into Donald Trump over the president’s widely-condemned response to the deaths of actor-director Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele.
Trump sparked outrage across the political spectrum after claiming in a vile Truth Social post that the death of Reiner, a longtime critic of the president, was “reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, sometimes referred to as TDS.”
Nick Reiner, the son of the couple, has been “booked for murder” in the deaths, said Los Angeles Police Department Chief Jim McDonnell.
White shared a screenshot of Trump’s comments on Instagram and wrote:
“Trump you disgusting, vile, egomaniac, loser, child. Neither he nor any one of his followers can defend this gross, horrible insult to a beautiful artist who gave the world so much. To use someone’s tragic death to promote your own vanity and fascist authoritarian agenda is a corrupt and narcissistic sin. Shame on you trump and anyone who defends this. God bless you Rob Reiner and thank you for what you gave the world. I never even met you and I still stand by you.”
White has previously taken Trump to task for his 2024 campaign’s use of “Seven Nation Army,” by his former band, The White Stripes, in a video.
“Oh….Don’t even think about using my music you fascists,” the musician wrote on Instagram at the time. “Law suit coming from my lawyers about this (to add to your 5 thousand others.)”
After Trump won back the White House, longtime Trump critic White fumed in another online post about how “Americans chose a known, obvious fascist and now America will get whatever this wannabe dictator wants to enact from here on in.”
He added, “It’s absolutely dumbfounding that this con man succeeded in pulling the wool over so many Americans eyes not once, but twice.”
