Actor Warwick Davis received a prestigious Order of the British Empire honour from Prince William during a ceremony at Windsor Castle on Wednesday.
The 43-year-old heir to the throne made a notable gesture during the presentation, lowering himself to meet the 56-year-old actor at eye level.
Davis, who was born with Spondyloepiphyseal dysplasia congenita, a rare form of dwarfism, expressed his appreciation for William’s considerate approach.
“It was lovely the way he came down to my level instead of standing and looking down at me,” Davis said, according to Hello!.

The investiture ceremony recognised the English actor for his significant contributions to both drama and charitable causes throughout his distinguished career.
In footage released by Kensington Palace, Davis recounted his exchange with the Prince of Wales during the ceremony.
“The Prince of Wales said to me today, ‘Have you got one of these already?’ I said no, no,” Davis explained. “I worried that if I said yes ‘Well, you’re not having this one’ but he said, ‘I’m really surprised, I thought you had one already. You should have had one years ago,’ which is really nice.”

Speaking to Times Radio following his inclusion in King Charles’s New Year Honours list last December, Davis described the recognition as understated yet meaningful.
“It’s a very dignified honour,” he remarked. “It’s not like a BAFTA it’s not big and shiny and show-bizzy.”
The actor emphasised that recognition was never his motivation, stating: “I didn’t do any of what I do to get an award. I just do it because I enjoy doing it.”
Davis’s career in film began at just 11 years old when he portrayed Wicket the Ewok in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, subsequently reprising the character in two television films.

His charitable endeavours have been equally significant. In 2012, Davis and his late wife Samantha established Little People UK, an organisation dedicated to providing support for individuals living with dwarfism.
