Hayley Williams has released a new music video for ‘Glum’ – check it out below.

Co-directed by her Paramore bandmate Zac Farro, the cinematic ‘Glum’ video echoes the song’s themes of existentialism. Shot entirely on the film, the cinematic clip sees Williams sporting bright yellow hair as she wanders an empty house, laying on the hardwood floors, walking through a hollow garden and more.

“Do you ever feel so alone / That you could implode and no one would know? / And when you look around and nobody’s home / That you wanna go back to wherever we’re from / Wherever we’re from,” Hayley Williams sings.

The track is the latest of her recent 17-song surprise release – which isn’t packaged as an album but rather 17 separate, standalone singles – to receive a music video, following ‘Ego Death At A Bachelorette Party’ just two weeks ago.

Lovingly referred to as ‘Ego’, the 17-song collection could seemingly be re-packaged as an album, according to a recent Instagram post from Williams: “I have been at the creek listening to potential track-list orders and still trying to create my own.”

Whether the songs will form an eventual album, or if they’re all part of a larger upcoming release remains to be seen.

The releases marked the Paramore front woman’s first new music she became an independent artist when her record deal with Warner/Atlantic ended. She first previewed them for fans on her website for a limited time. Later, she released all 17 songs on streaming platforms as individual singles.

The project was dubbed the ‘Ego’ album, and sparked fears of a Paramore split among fans. Laced throughout the project are cryptic lyrics hinting at a potential breakup between her and Paramore guitarist Taylor York, who she confirmed she was dating in 2022. It’s worth noting that neither York or Williams has addressed rumours of a split.

Ali Shutler wrote in a glowing five-star review of Williams’ 17-song collection for NME: “As with almost every era of Hayley Williams’ career, this new release has come with questions about the future of Paramore. The determined lyrics on the tender ‘I Won’t Quit On You’ should be all the reassurance worried fans need, but if that’s not enough, there’s plenty in this brilliant, swaggering new chapter to be excited about. These songs might be about missed second chances, but Williams is certainly making the most of hers.”
