Released on Halloween, Ventrelles’ first and potentially only release of 2025, ‘Emily’s Song’, proves to be a treat for their fans and promises to leave the tricks for another year. Capturing the nostalgic sound of 80’s with modern Mancunian twists, this four-piece know exactly what they’re on about.
‘Emily’s Song’ gets underway with an almost Cure-like instrumental, balancing a darker bassline with energetic drumming and guitar playing, creating a moody atmosphere from the get go.
The introduction of the vocals add a modernised feel to the track, reflecting the lads’ local influences and establishing a unique soundscape. The lyrics add another layer to the overall moodiness and highlight the depth of Ventrelles’ songwriting, whilst the increase in tempo takes the track to a different level and allows the song to come to a triumphant close.
‘Emily’s Song’ is riddled with emotive songwriting, clever playing and shows Ventrelles’ ability to tell a story through their music.
Their first release under 42’s Records, Ventrelles are entering a new chapter as a group and ‘Emily’s Song’ is certainly a neat way to get the ball rolling.
A great insight to these lads’ capabilities as a group, following up with something equally powerful could see their name hitchhiking around the scene.
A cracking start to a new era, whatever comes next could be crucial.
