UPDATE: Per the Royals, Witt Jr. left Friday’s game due to back spasms.
Kansas City Royals shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. exited Friday’s game against the Minnesota Twins early in the seventh inning. No reason has been provided as to why at this time, though it’s tough to see the Royals pulling their star in a one-run game barring an injury.
The Royals held a 2-1 lead at the time Witt Jr. was subbed out.
The 25-year-old shortstop is in the midst of one of his best seasons on the stat sheet, slashing .294/.352/.503 with 160 hits, 77 RBIs, 90 runs and 21 home runs in 139 games.
