Whatsapp rolled out several new group chat features this Wednesday, including options to assign roles to chat members, create event reminders and turn words into text stickers.
The new features follow a number of other recent Whatsapp group chat enhancements, including larger file sharing, screen sharing and voice chats.
Whatsapp Channels, which offer the ability to create what’s essentially a group chat of an unlimited size with follower privacy protection, have also been of use to artist teams for the past couple of years. Some of the first users were Olivia Rodrigo, David Guetta and Billboard.
How to use new Whatsapp features and Channels?
Improve your organisational chat. Use the new chat update to clearly state the role of each member of the group, adding a level of accountability for admin tasks and strategy. The new events feature can also be used for group meeting and band practice reminders.
Utilise Channels for fans. Consider setting up a Whatsapp fan channel for updates and release teasers. While the new tag and event reminders are only available for group chats, text stickers can be used on Channels for things like creative presentation of song lyrics.
