The Wheel of Fortune’s Vanna White has been mercilessly mocked online after a recent video of her was shared on social media.
Vanna, 69, attended a golf event in her home state of South Carolina on May 6. While at the tournament, she served as an official ambassador, promoting her hometown and celebrating its growth as a premier golf destination.
The television personality is an avid golfer and played in Wednesday’s Celebrity Pro-Am alongside other stars, including Kurt Russell and McLaren CEO Zak Brown, ahead of the PGA Tour’s Myrtle Beach Classic. However, despite appearing to have a wonderful day on the green, Vanna was cruelly trolled for her appearance.
Despite Vanna’s fans usually seeing the star in glamorous ballgowns as part of her role on Wheel of Fortune, the 69-year-old attended the ONEflight event wearing a golf shirt, green pants, and a white hat.
Footage of Vanna at the event was then uploaded to Instagram, where she could be seen smiling and chatting with fans. However, brutal social media users used the opportunity to insult the television star’s appearance.
Responding to the video, one ruthless person wrote, “I can’t believe how much she aged. She looks older than she is.” Meanwhile, another user jabbed, “I thought it was my grandmother come back to life.”
“The veins, the hands, the neck, all look like a 90-year-old,” added a third. However, Vanna’s fans were quick to show support and love for their idol.
“People are truly sick in the head,” one fan fumed, before another stated that the beloved personality was “aging so gracefully and beautifully.”
Another person defended Vanna by saying, “No filler; skin not stretched back behind her ears…. Naturally aging, loving her life,” as a final fan called her “gracious” and a “class act.”
Vanna has been on the hit show for 43 years, but she was not mentioned in a press release for its upcoming series.
Sony Pictures released a statement in March confirming that Wheel of Fortune will return for seasons 44 and 45. However, Vanna’s name was nowhere to be seen.
Moreover, Vanna recently renewed her contract for the 2025-26 season, with a significant pay increase after lengthy talks with Sony.
Sources told TMZ that she fought for “a minimum that is fair,” and while the exact figure remains undisclosed, Celebrity Net Worth estimates she earns around $10 million a year from the show.
The Daily Express US reached out to Sony Pictures at the time, but has not yet received a response.
