During his time in college, John Lennon met his friend and Beatles bandmate, Paul McCartney. Lennon, the lead singer, and his band went on to craft several platinum anthems, including “Long and Winding Road” and “Lady Madonna.” The British band, earning the nickname the “Fab Four,” gained worldwide fame. They earned eight Grammys, with “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” earning two for Best Contemporary Album and Album Of The Year. In 1980, Lennon, returning from a studio session, was murdered outside his home on Manhattan’s Upper West Side by a former fan.
