Who Is Lilja Rúriksdóttir? - Meet Aaron Moten's Wife

THE RUNDOWN

  • Aaron Moten is married to Lilja Rúriksdóttir, an Icelandic-American actress.
  • The couple shares three daughters and previously lived in Iceland.
  • They have posted sweet tributes to each other on social media.

Aaron Moten has been open about building a life centered on family alongside his rising acting career. As his profile has grown following Fallout, interest has followed in his life off-screen—including his wife, Lilja Rúriksdóttir, an Icelandic-American actress.

Here’s everything to know about Rúriksdóttir, her background, and her relationship with Moten.

She maintains an acting career in both the U.S. and Iceland.

Lilja Rúriksdóttir is an Icelandic-American actress who works across both U.S.-based and European productions. According to her agency, Creative Artists Iceland, she is fluent in English and Icelandic.

The agency also notes that Rúriksdóttir is based between Los Angeles and Reykjavík.

She is a Juilliard-trained performer with a psychology background.

Rúriksdóttir is a graduate of The Juilliard School and trained at Anthony Meindl’s Actor Workshop and the Margie Haber Acting Studio, according to her agency. Her academic background also includes a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, per Creative Artists Iceland.

Her credits span screen and dance projects.

Rúriksdóttir’s projects include Bad Child’s “Rouge” music video (2021), Marfa Dance Episodes with the Los Angeles Dance Project (2017), and the short film Aska (2021).

She and Moten built their family while living in Iceland.

Rúriksdóttir is married to the actor, best known for his role as Maximus in Prime Video’s Fallout. In a December 2025 interview with GQ, Moten spoke about “my wife and three daughters.”

He reflected on relocating back to the United States after several years living in Iceland, saying, “The last five years I had been in Reykjavik, Iceland, and now I’m in Los Angeles because filming moved here.”

He added, “We’ve got three daughters, so it was easy for us to do a quick, long weekend trip to New York from Iceland. But, Iceland to Los Angeles, do I really want to be waiting until two in the morning to see my kids wake up? As amazing as FaceTime is, it just felt like too far.”

Moten also previously shared with ELLE that he moved to Iceland shortly before the pandemic, describing the country as a place where he found happiness and distance from the pressures of the industry. “I feel like Iceland is my safe place,” he told the magaine in May 2024. “We’re a little island. A lot of volcanoes. You don’t want to come over here.”

Moten says his family keeps him grounded.

While Moten tends to keep his personal life private, he spoke candidly to GQ about the timing of his career success and the role Rúriksdóttir plays in his life. Reflecting on his rise to fame, he said, “My wife would probably be the first one to joke, ‘You’d be dead if this had happened to you sooner.’ You grow as a person.”

Rúriksdóttir and Moten publicly share moments from their life together.

Both Rúriksdóttir and Moten have occasionally shared glimpses of their relationship on social media.

On August 27, Moten posted a birthday tribute to Rúriksdóttir on Instagram, writing, “Happy Birthday to my everyday everything! @liljaruriks My life would spin out without you. You hold me and the girls. Let us hold you 🍷.”

Rúriksdóttir has also referenced Moten and his work on her own Instagram. On December 10, she shared a photo of them together at the Fallout season 2 premiere, writing, “Love him. Love this show. Dec 17th!! 🎲 Nú mega jólin koma✨.”

Over the summer, Rúriksdóttir also posted a family photo featuring Moten and their children for Father’s Day, captioning it, “Aaron, I honestly don’t think I would’ve (somewhat) kept my marbles without you as the father of my children. You teach them what safe feels like. They’re so lucky, and so am I. Happy Father’s Day!”
