The Bear star Jeremy Allen White skipped the 2025 Emmy Awards, despite being nominated for Outstanding Lead Actori n a Comedy Series for the third time in a row.
Ahead of the Emmys red carpet, it was reported that Jeremy went to his best friend’s wedding instead.
The Bear will return for season 5.
Well, chefs, it’s official: the reign of Hulu’s The Bear is officially over. Or, at the very least, on pause. On Sunday, Sept. 14, The Studio beat The Bear for most Emmys wins in one swoop with 13 wins. The sweep was so decisive, you might not even have noticed the absence of one key Emmy winner. The Bear star Jeremy Allen White skipped the Emmys completely this year, and it turned out to be a pretty solid decision on his part, given the outcome.
Not only did Jeremy lose the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series—an award he won in 2023 and 2024—to Seth Rogen of The Studio, but The Bear lost pretty much…everything. And Jeremy had more important things to do than sit in the Emmys audience for 4 hours on Sunday night. And, no, he wasn’t out buying absurdly large flowers at the farmer’s market.

According to Variety, Jeremy skipped the Emmys because his best friend was getting married on the same day. We love a man with priorities!
Meanwhile, his rumored girlfriend and The Bear co-star Molly Gordon walked the red carpet solo. And a source reportedly told People that Jeremy was “disappointed” to have to miss the festivities with his cast mates, and was “very honored” to be recognized this year. He was nominated alongside Only Murders in the Building’s Martin Short, Jason Segel of Shrining, Nobody Wants This’Adam Brody, and, finally The Studio’s Seth Rogen.
The Bear is expected to return with season 5 sometime next year. And, who knows, maybe if it tells a couple jokes this season, Jeremy could once again win the Emmy in this category. Only time can tell.
