Curious about the latest buzz surrounding the Twilight film series? As speculation spreads about a possible new movie, fans are revisiting the beloved vampire franchise and its iconic love triangle. Lionsgate’s tease and social media buzz have reignited interest in Bella, Edward, and Jacob’s story.

Here’s why fans expect a Twilight return and what Lionsgate has officially confirmed about the saga’s comeback.

Here’s why fans think a new Twilight Saga movie is coming to theaters

Fans speculated about a new Twilight movie after Lionsgate teased an announcement on social media.

The studio posted a graphic featuring Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner, with the tagline “Forever Begins Again.” The caption read “Tomorrow,” signaling that further details would follow. This fueled speculation online that the franchise could be returning with new material.

However, the announcement clarified that no new Twilight movie is in the works. Instead, Lionsgate confirmed that all five films in the original series will be re-released in theaters this October. The lineup includes Twilight (2008), New Moon (2009), Eclipse (2010), Breaking Dawn – Part 1 (2011), and Breaking Dawn – Part 2 (2012). These films, based on Stephenie Meyer’s novels, collectively grossed more than $3.3 billion worldwide.

The original cast featured Stewart as Bella Swan, Pattinson as Edward Cullen, and Lautner as Jacob Black. Supporting roles included Billy Burke, Elizabeth Reaser, Nikki Reed, Kellan Lutz, Ashley Greene, Jackson Rathbone, and Anna Kendrick. The story followed Bella’s romance with Edward as she entered the supernatural world of vampires and werewolves, while also navigating her friendship with Jacob.

When Twilight premiered on November 21, 2008, it earned $408.4 million globally on a relatively small budget. Its success turned Stewart, Pattinson, and Lautner into international stars. The fandom’s enthusiasm sustained the series through its five installments, with Breaking Dawn – Part 2 concluding the saga in 2012.

The franchise has continued to remain active in pop culture, inspiring memes, rewatches, and even plans for an animated TV reboot. In 2023, director Catherine Hardwicke reflected on the original film’s impact, saying she aimed to capture “a love that’s like a drug… that makes you feel ecstatic” (via The Hollywood Reporter).

The October theatrical re-release gives fans the chance to revisit the saga on the big screen.
