Why Guy Ritchie’s Young Sherlock Is Not An Official Prequel To Robert Downey Jr.’s Sherlock Holmes Movies

Guy Ritchie has returned to the world of Sherlock Holmes, but not with Robert Downey Jr.

Instead, the filmmaker has produced and directed Young Sherlock, featuring Hero Fiennes Tiffin as the titular character, following his early days. In a new interview with RadioTimes, showrunner Matthew Parkhill was asked if there were ever any plans to have the series tied to Ritchie’s movies with Robert Downey Jr. and make it an official prequel.

Parkhill stated, “No. That was a very early conversation with Guy that I had, and we were adamant that he’s not a young Robert Downey Jr.” For them, this is a “different Sherlock, a different world, different universe.
