There’s no shortage of events happening this summer in Cincinnati, and the weekend of Aug. 8-10 is no different.
Between the kickoff of the world-renowned Cincinnati Open in Mason this week and the Voices of America Country Music Fest in West Chester Township starting Thursday, the region’s event calendar is packed.
Here’s a rundown of all that’s happening in Cincinnati this weekend.

Cincinnati Open brings tennis stars to Greater Cincinnati
The Cincinnati Open, formerly called the Western & Southern Open, is a world-renowned sporting event and the longest-tenured tennis tournament of its kind. It takes place across 14 days, from Aug. 5-18, at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, up from the nine-day spectacle that drew more than 205,000 people and generated millions in gross revenue last August.
The prestigious event began with two days of qualifying rounds before the first round kicked off the main draw Aug. 7 and seven days of matches leading to the quarterfinals Aug. 14. The tournament culminates in the doubles finals Aug. 17 and singles finals Aug. 18.
Voices of America Country Music Fest to host Carrie Underwood and more
Voices of America Country Music Fest, hosted in West Chester, takes place Aug. 7-10 and draws attendees for a stacked lineup of country music artists.

What is Arcade Music Fest?
Arcade Music Fest, taking place Aug. 8-9, is a Covington-based arts and music festival spotlighting the historic Pike Street Arcade Tunnel. The two-day event will transform the streets of Covington with over 50 bands, 40 local vendors and food trucks, and immersive art, with the Arcade Tunnel serving as the main stage for music and a light installation space.

What is the Red Bull Flugtag?
Red Bull Flugtag, happening Aug. 9 at Sawyer Point Park and Yeatman’s Cove, is an event hosted by the popular energy drink brand in which contestants construct a “flying machine” which they then launch over the Ohio River to either fly or plunge into the waters below. Teams are then judged by a panel of local and national celebrities using three criteria – flight distance, creativity and showmanship.
The name flugtag means “flying day” in German.
Who’s playing at Riverbend Music Center?
Nelly, the three-time Grammy Award-winning rapper and singer, is playing Riverbend Music Center on Sunday, Aug. 10 as part of his Where The Party At Tour celebrating the 25th anniversary of his debut studio album “Country Grammar.”
He’ll be joined by special guests Ja Rule, Eve and Chingy. Doors open at 6 p.m. with the performance starting at 7:30 p.m. Tickets starting around $50 are available for purchase at ticketmaster.com.
