Taylor Swift sparked rumors that she’s been in Los Angeles this weekend after multiple stars were photographed leaving the Bird Streets Club on Friday night carrying sourdough loaves with labels that appeared to be in Swift’s handwriting. But at Sunday’s Golden Globes, neither the singer nor her fiancé, Travis Kelce, was spotted on the red carpet.
They have no pressing reason to attend the ceremony itself: They are not presenting and don’t have projects nominated. Swift, who has been up for Best Original Song – Motion Picture four times in the past, hasn’t written any music for a film soundtrack in 2025. While Kelce did have a project eligible—his podcast New Heights in the Best Podcast category—it wasn’t nominated. (The Golden Globes discontinued its Best Documentary award after 1977, and Swift’s December docuseries The End of an Era was released too recently to be eligible for the 2026 awards shows.)
The Kansas City Chiefs player recently finished his NFL season after his team failed to make the playoffs. He spoke on New Heights earlier this week about how he is approaching his offseason—and the prospect of retiring: “[I’ll be] just being a regular human for a couple weeks, maybe a month or so, [and] trying to figure out what I’m gonna do next in terms of my future in football,” he said. “I’ve talked to a few people in the facility already, having the exit meetings and everything, and they know where I stand, at least right now. There’s a lot of love for the game that’s still there, and I don’t think I’ll ever lose that.”
Swift has kept her next career moves private, though Searchlight Pictures announced in 2022 that she would direct her first feature film with them. “Taylor is a once in a generation artist and storyteller,” the production company said in a statement. “It is a genuine joy and privilege to collaborate with her as she embarks on this exciting and new creative journey.”
In December, a source told Us Weekly that Swift “always has ideas percolating,” for her music career, but they weren’t “aware of any Showgirl tour plans. The Eras Tour was a once-in-a-lifetime experience, so she’s not going to put pressure on herself to make everything that big and ambitious. She’ll make sure the next one is special in its own right, but she’s also realistic about it.”
Swift is generally thinking ahead, even during her downtime, the insider added. “There have been ideas floated, but right now she is enjoying her break.”
