Love triangles are complicated. Love triangles with a pair of siblings? That’s another level of messy. Shows like The Vampire Diaries and The Summer I Turned Pretty struck gold with this dynamic, and now My Life With the Walter Boys is doing the same.
Based on Ali Novak’s novel of the same name, the Netflix teen drama centers on Jackie Howard (Nikki Rodriguez), whose new life with the Walter clan in Silver Falls, Colo., is upended by the big feelings she catches for brothers Alex (Ashby Gentry) and Cole (Noah LaLonde).
While Jackie sorts out her feelings for the safe, bookish Alex, it becomes harder to ignore the strong connection she shares with the brooding Cole. By the end of season 2, Jackie’s heart and the brothers’ relationship hit a breaking point.
Cliffhangers abound, so fans are likely eager to know if there will be a season 3 of My Life With the Walter Boys. Read on for everything we know about the series’ future.

The season 2 finale of My Life With the Walter Boys ends with several emotional cliffhangers that set the stage for an even more dramatic season 3.
In the final scene, Jackie finally spills to Cole that she’s in love with him, right after he confesses his love for her. This comes amid Jackie’s relationship with Alex, which they’ve been keeping a secret.
It’s a moment that’s been building all season. As showrunner Melanie Halsall put it to Entertainment Weekly, Jackie has been “avoiding those feelings for him for a long time” and couldn’t keep them bottled up any longer.
But, as tends to happen on these types of shows, Alex manages to overhear their conversation. “Hearing that will be a real turning point for him,” Halsall told us. “Whether he’ll be hurt, of course that’ll be very difficult for him, but it might be what he needs to hear.”
Before the trio can process it all, Will Walter (Johnny Link) rushes outside to meet an ambulance pulling up to the house. He tells Jackie, Cole, and Alex that something’s happened to Walter family patriarch George (Marc Blucas). What, exactly? Well, that answer will need to wait for next season.
“We ended season 1 on a pretty big cliffhanger, so of course we wanted to be bigger and better in season 2,” said Halsall. “I really wanted to give all the characters a huge thing to deal with in those last moments. … But because this series has been about identity and family, I also wanted to blow a big hole in the whole family dynamic as well at the end, not just in the trio.”

Specific plot details for My Life With the Walter Boys season 3 have yet to be announced, but Halsall told EW it will “delve deeper into the lives and loves of our characters in new and interesting ways.”
She continued, “I wanted to blow the whole thing apart in ways that we weren’t expecting and in ways that are going to have huge repercussions, and the characters will have to deal with those repercussions for quite some time.”
That includes the love triangle at the heart of the series. “Our show is a love triangle, obviously, and I don’t know if those can ever really be resolved. Someone’s always going to get their heart broken.”
As for Jackie, her decision to finally admit her feelings for Cole puts her in a difficult position. “Whatever she decides to do next is going to be difficult. Someone’s going to get hurt,” said Halsall.
