Prince William is reportedly pushing for his father, King Charles, to exile Prince Andrew and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, from Royal circles following fresh scandals this week.
Sarah, 65, has dominated headlines over the past 24 hours after revelations emerged that she sent an apologetic email to convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein for distancing herself from him following his imprisonment for child sex crimes.
The 2011 email, exposed by The Mail on Sunday, showed Sarah calling the late pedophile her “supreme friend” and expressing regret for giving an interview where she criticized and rejected him as an associate. A representative for the duchess explained that Sarah dispatched the email in an attempt to prevent legal action from Epstein. Following this week’s disclosure, reports suggest Prince William and the King hold conflicting views regarding the fate of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson. Sources indicate that William, 43, is advocating for his father to expel the duo from the Firm, while The Daily Mail reports the King remains reluctant to take such drastic action.
This hesitation allegedly stems from the monarch’s desire to sever all connections with his brother and former sister-in-law, who currently remain devoted to him and the monarchy despite not serving as working royals.
A Royal insider revealed: “William feels even more strongly than the King that Andrew and Fergie are an embarrassment and will be urging his father to act.
“The optics of that pair of chancers guffawing away [at events] look terrible.”
An insider shared: “The King doesn’t want to cut ties with his brother, former sister-in-law and that side of the family. The late Queen, conscious that Fergie was the mother of her granddaughters, always took that view, even if Prince Philip couldn’t bear to be in the same room as Sarah.”
Rumors are swirling that William is eager for his uncle and Sarah, both of whom were once friends with Epstein, to vacate the Royal Lodge in Windsor.
Despite not being working royals, Andrew, 65, and Sarah have been spotted at Royal events recently, including last week at the funeral of The Duchess of Kent.
Earlier this year, they were also seen with the Royal Family as they attended an Easter Sunday church service in Windsor.
