Twelve-year-old Worcester actor Angelo Gray will receive the key to the city of Worcester Friday, Nov. 14 at the Blackstone Valley 14 Cinema de Lux in Millbury during a special local premiere of his film debut, British director Edgar Wright’s adaptation of “The Running Man.”
Worcester Mayor Joseph M. Petty will present Gray with the key at the premiere event, which will begin at 6:30 p.m. and be followed by a showing of the feature-length film.

Gray has a small speaking role in the film, which arrives in theaters Nov. 13 and stars Glen Powell. Last winter, he traveled to the United Kingdom and Bulgaria to film his scenes.
“My last filming day, I was sad when it was over. Glen Powell said I took direction very well and that would get me far,” Gray told Worcester Magazine in April. “That was the best experience I ever had because it was my first movie and I got to see how movie magic works.”
“The Running Man” began as a Stephen King novel in 1982 and had a previous film adaptation, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, in 1987.
The story is set in an alternate 2025 where society has collapsed and protagonist Ben Richards, played by Powell in the new film, volunteers to compete on a deadly game show in hopes of winning money to feed his family.
