Yard Act have announced their next album, You’re Gonna Need A Little Music, with the thumping lead single, ‘Redeemer’.

The post-punk band will follow up their last album, 2024’s Where’s My Utopia?, and their 2022 debut, The Overload, with their third LP, recorded between their hometown of Leeds and Los Angeles.

Yard Act have collaborated with producer Justin Meldal-Johnsen on You’re Gonna Need A Little Music, known for his work with Nine Inch Nails, Beck, and St Vincent.

The new project promises to showcase their most dynamic, collaborative, energised work, alongside “some of the darkest, most cynical and truly questioning moments they’ve concocted too”.

Lead vocalist James Smith has explained that this is their first-ever non-laptop record, as it was recorded over an “uninterrupted five-month period” of creativity. “It felt like everything I’d wanted from being in a band,” he added.

The new track, ‘Redeemer’, boasts a darker tone, with a thumping bass that introduces Smith’s snotty, spitting vocals as he begins, “You envy the freak, I can see it in your eyes, No one is happy with this arrangement.”

The band will kick off their celebration with European dates in June before heading to North America throughout August, and back to Europe in October.

Yard Act also announced a slew of new UK dates, kicking off on November 6th at Leeds O2 Academy and reaching the likes of Newcastle, Glasgow, Sheffield, Manchester, Leicester, Bristol, and more. The live dates will end with a final night at O2 Academy Brixton in London on November 26th.

In a glowing four-and-a-half-star review of Where’s My Utopia?, Far Out observed that the album “encourages gripping engagement by pairing dance-infused post-punk arrangements with wordplay that illuminates this fractured age from the perilous perspective of an insecure post-punk poster boy who tries to use his sense of humour to laugh through the panic attacks.”

You’re Gonna Need A Little Music is set for a July 17th release.

‘You’re Gonna Need A Little Music’ – tracklist:

  1. ‘Empty Pledges’
  2. ‘New Beginnings’
  3. ‘Tall Tales’
