Boston is set to have a live music festival after councillors agreed to additional funding for community events.
Members of the Boston Town Area Committee (BTAC) agreed an events budget of £65,500 which includes a £17,000 funding contribution for a three day Christmas festival and a further £24,000 contribution towards an inclusive music event.
The ‘B-Fest 2026’ event will take place in Boston’s Central Park and Skatepark, and will involve a variety of national tribute bands and local artists and feature a range of food and drink stalls.
The event is due to take place on August 2 from midday onwards and will be free to all visitors.
Coun Paul Gleeson (independent – Skirbeck ward) said: “Ever since I was elected, we’ve had people talking about Party in the Park.
“I accept that this sort of budget could not put on the same event, but I do think it would be the first small step to becoming larger things.”
A live music event previously took place in the town in 2008 and was named ‘Party in the Park’.
Coun Anton Dani (Independent – Fenside ward) said he also supported additional spending on community events.
He added: “I think music is very ideal to bring the communities together.
“A lot of people like to watch music, everybody understands music, everyone dances to music, it doesn’t matter where you come from.”
Speaking after the meeting, Coun Dale Broughton (Independent – Coastal ward), said: “You asked, we delivered, this new music festival is all about bringing people together for a fantastic day out in Central Park.
“With a mix of live music, great food, and a welcoming atmosphere, it’s the perfect opportunity for families to enjoy something special this summer.
“We want everyone to come along, relax, and make the most of this free event in the heart of Boston.”
The event will be funded by the BTAC and Boston Borough Council’s events team which will work in partnership with the wider team in the South and East Lincolnshire Councils Partnership to organise the event.
The events budget will also enable the borough council to maintain its current events including Boston Strongest competition in Market Place and its Central Park beach summer activities for community groups.
