Zach Bryan is a songwriting machine.
The country music superstar released his sixth studio album, With Heaven On Top, just last Friday. The 25-song track list has had mixed reviews so far, with some fans liking the Bruce Springsteen-inspired sound on much of the project, while others aren’t a fan of how produced this album sounds compared to Bryan’s past releases (Zach went ahead and put together an acoustic version of the album like he knew those complaints would be coming).
There’s plenty of songs in the track list that are worthy of deep dives, like “Skin,” which seems to be a straight shot at his ex-girlfriend, Brianna Chickenfry. Or the one that many were waiting for months to hear in full: the politically charged “Bad News.” But before anyone could really digest those, or the album as a whole, Zach Bryan is already sharing new music.
The recently married 29-year-old took to YouTube to share an unreleased, full-length song that’s titled “Pocket Change.” Bryan has famously been known to post teasers to social media (he’s known even more famously for deleting them shortly after), so this isn’t a total surprise. But this one comes not even a full week since he released With Heaven On Top… which does seem a little odd, does it not? Don’t you want to give your already-released music some time to shine?
That being said, not one of his fans are complaining.
The lyrics of the song seem to tell the story of a couple who didn’t work out because the man refused to change his ways. Zach has made himself comfortable within the relationship-gone-wrong genre of songwriting, and “Pocket Change” certainly fits into that category.

I do wonder if “Pocket Change” was in the running to be included in With Heaven On Top, or if he just wrote it recently and decided to share it with the world? That’s obviously a question only Zach Bryan would know the answer to… but he probably wouldn’t even have time to answer it, because he’s seemingly always on to the next song.

The man can churn out songs like no other.
And like I said earlier, his fans are all about it. If Zach Bryan isn’t your favorite, imagine your go-to artist dropping 25 studio-recorded songs, then sharing even more new music a couple of days later.
