It seems the word “rest” isn’t in Zach Bryan’s vocabulary.
Following the release of his sixth studio album, With Heaven On Top, released earlier this year, Bryan announced a new EP titled Young Manhood and Other Donatable Organs, giving fans their first taste of the project with acoustic snippets of two unreleased song, “Lodi When” and “Better Friends.”
A Surprise EP Announcement
Bryan unveiled the upcoming project by uploading two videos to YouTube featuring stripped-down performances of “Lodi When” and another unreleased track, “Better Friends.” In the captions, he confirmed that both songs will appear on the upcoming EP.
While no release date has been announced, the confirmation alone was enough to send fans into a frenzy, especially since Bryan has kept a relatively low profile on social media in recent months following controversies of boorish responses to fans.
“Lodi When” Reminds Fans of Zach Bryan’s Beginning
“Lodi When” has quickly become a fan favorite.
Performed with nothing more than Bryan’s voice and an acoustic guitar, the song takes fans back to his early days, when he built a devoted following by uploading raw, iPhone-recorded performances to YouTube. Though only a snippet has been released, listeners have already praised its nostalgic tone and emotional depth, with many eager to hear the full version.
“Better Friends” Joins the Tracklist
Bryan also shared a preview of “Better Friends,” another track set to appear on the EP.
Like “Lodi When,” the song leans into intimate storytelling, suggesting the upcoming project will continue with the raw, personal style that has defined much of Bryan’s catalog. Both previews have sparked widespread discussion among fans, who are already speculating about what other songs may be included on the release.
Following a Busy Year of New Music
The steady stream of new material reinforces Bryan’s reputation as one of country music’s most prolific songwriters. His history of releasing companion EPs after full-length albums—including Summertime Blues and Boys of Faith—has fans optimistic that the new project will offer another collection of intimate, stripped-back songs.
The Oklahoma native is currently on his With Heaven On Tour which kicks off on March 7 in Missouri, and is set to wrap up on October 10 in Alabama.
