Zach Bryan is teasing a scorcher of a new song with sentiments that are anti-ICE and anti-[gestures vaguely at the state of America], including provocative lyrics such as, “I’ve got some bad news/ The fading of the red, white, and blue.”
Bryan posted a relatively raw audio snippet over the weekend with an eight-word caption: “the fading of the red white and blue.” “ICE is gonna come bust down your door,” leads to imagery of children “all scared and all alone,” plus police officers described as “cocky motherfuckers, ain’t they?”
There is no indication of whether a finished version will be released, but you can listen to the song clip below.
Like many people, Bryan’s interest in politics has waxed and waned depending on his own mood and national events. Last year, he posted, “the more a person includes politics into their life anywhere besides a ballot the more I figure they don’t have anything more interesting to do or say.” He later deleted the post. In 2023, he got into an online disagreement with country superstar Travis Tritt over transgender rights, with Bryan writing, “insulting transgender people is completely wrong because we live in a country where we can all just be who we want to be.”
