Zohran Mamdani Called Out by Media for Being a Dipset Fan

Zohran Mamdani, the Democratic nominee in the New York City mayoral race, has been accused of supporting a “pro-terrorist” rap group known as The Diplomats in an apparent hit piece.

In the article by Jerry Dunleavy, chief investigative correspondent for JusttheNews.com, Mamdani is called out for posting the same photo of Juelz Santana in an American flag outfit from the “Dipset Anthem” music video on Independence Day, with the caption, “Happy 4th,” in three of the last five years.

The piece describes Dipset as a “controversial rap group” who “were famous — and infamous — for some of their pro-terrorism-tinged lyrics.”

The claim stems from Dipset’s obsession with 9/11, especially on their debut album Diplomatic Immunity, less than two years after the events of Sept. 11, 2001. In addition to their lyrics, the crew also referred to themselves as “the Dipset Taliban” and “Harlem’s Al Qaeda.”

This fixation was revisited on social media just last year.

Despite the article’s best efforts to paint Mamdani in a negative light because of his fandom of Juelz and Dipset, people seemed to elicit the opposite effect.

Back in July, Zohran Mamdani linked with Wu-Tang Clan, Run The Jewels, and the LOX for the final Wu-Tang NYC show at Madison Square Garden. A month prior to that, 50 Cent offered Mamdani $258,750 to leave NYC. “Where did he come from 👀 whose friend is this? I’m not feeling this plan no,” he wrote on Instagram. “I will give him $258,750 and a first class one way ticket away from NY. I’m telling Trump what he said too!”
