Caglianone belted eight home runs in the first round of the annual tournament. He got off to a slow start before settling in with some mammoth homers.

In his session, Caglianone blasted homers well into the third deck at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He also hit a baseball over the batter’s eye in center field before bowing out after 20 swings.

However, Caglianone wouldn’t move forward. He was not one of the final four participants after Willson Contreras (13 homers), Jordan Walker (13), Junior Caminero (12) and Kyle Schwarber (10) advanced in the competition.

The final round came down to Schwarber and Walker. It was a clear home-field advantage as Schwarber had the Philly faithful in his corner.

Schwarber was electric with 11 homers in 15 swings. Yet, it was Walker who closed it out with 12 homers to take home the 2026 trophy.

Despite the short appearance, Caglianone was crowned as a future superstar and someone to watch moving forward. He drew big applause as he smashed homers well over 470 feet in succession.

This season, Caglianone has vastly improved. He leads the Royals with 15 home runs and has settled into the third spot in the batting order.

And his defense has taken a significant leap. Caglianone has seven outfield assists and a .993 fielding percentage across 64 starts in right field.

It’s possible Caglianone will participate in another Home Run Derby. He had a strong showing and has the skillset to potentially lead the majors in the category.
