The event invites filmmakers from all over the country to participate in the festival is designed to uplift stories of the Asian American experience, encouraging artists to share their perspective through a lens. “New Mexico is the largest film industry in the country, so why aren’t we amplifying our Asian voices? And that is where this came to life, and it’s been quite successful each year. WE tend to sell out and have standing room only,” says Lava Khonsuwon, NM Asian American Film Fest Director.
Organizers say this is a space for artists to create the stories they want to tell and celebrate their culture. This is the film festival’s third year.
