Just because the ’90s are over doesn’t mean its breakout stars aren’t still breaking hearts. One look at one time Heartbreak High star Alex Dimitriades is all the proof you need to know the beloved actor has still got it.
Dimitriades, 51, was recently spotted in Sydney, Australia on the set of a brand-new project, and he may be all grown-up, but he’s just has handsome as ever. The Australian star was totally unrecognizable, thanks to his costuming for the role: a dingy blue sweatshirt over a plain, white tee, grey sweatpants, and a pair of classic black and white Converse sneakers.
So, what’s the new project that has the formerly clean-cut teen star rocking longer hair and a salt and pepper beard? It’s still under wraps, at least for now. Most recently, Dimitriades guest-starred in on the Australian series, Bay of Fires, but time will tell what his latest endeavor will turn out to be.

It’s been over 30 years since the beloved ’90s teen drama, Heartbreak High, premiered drawing in fans from around the world. A spin off of the film, The Heartbreak Kid, Dimitriades reprised his role from the movie in the first season of the series before his character was tragically killed off. He was only 20 when he became an overnight sensation, as the show went on to air in more than two dozen countries around the world.
“I’m very lucky, in terms of how it was set up and structured,” Dimitriades said in a 2021 interview. “I was a teenager and we did a movie first, ‘The Heartbreak Kid’ and that was hugely successful… I was like a young new star and they really put me out there.”
In 2022, Netflix developed a reboot of Heartbreak High, but it was short-lived. The series was cancelled after only three seasons, despite a warm reception by audiences.
Dimitriades is more than just a talented actor. The actor is also an accomplished DJ, and splits his time between DJ gigs and acting roles. An unexpected talent, it’s also one that brings him great joy.
“It’s not necessarily a common one or one I planned, but two things I’ve done that run concurrently, as as time goes on they lend each other more and more,” he said.
