Florence + The Machine appear to be hinting at their imminent return with a horror-esque new teaser video. Watch below.
The London band shared the brief clip on social media today (August 11), showing frontwoman Florence Welch frantically digging up the ground in a windy, otherwise deserted field.
We then see a shot from below of the singer-songwriter staring into the hole, before letting out three bloodcurdling screams. She is wearing a long red dress and matching shoes in the sinister clip.

The teaser comes shortly after Welch sparked speculation over her return to music by sharing a cryptic series of photographs on social media last month.
One of the pictures showed a whiteboard that contained the message “You can have it all”, before listing the words “clarity”, “power”, “purpose”, “vocals”, “space”, “dynamics” and “beauty”. This particular image seemed to make a cryptic nod to Adele too.
Another slide revealed Welch at work in the studio with IDLES guitarist Mark Bowen, while a different snap included the word “October” – perhaps the month fans can expect the new album.
A photo of the musician’s notebook contained some possible themes for the next F+TM record, such as “witchcraft”, “folk horror”, “magic” and “insanity” – which line up with the new teaser we’ve seen today.
Glass Animals commented on last month’s carousel of images. “omggggg,” the band wrote. The two artists have connections, as frontman Dave Bayley has worked with Florence + The Machine in the past – helping produce their 2022 album ‘Dance Fever’ alongside Welch, Jack Antonoff, Kid Harpoon and Doveman.
NME asked Bayley whether he could shed any light on new F+TM material in the works during an interview at Mad Cool 2025 recently.
“It’s not my place to say,” he replied, coyly. “All I will say is: working with Florence is like one of the coolest things I’ve gotten to do. She’s a force of nature. What an amazing songwriter – I’ve learnt so much from her. I can’t say any more! Yeah, it’s very exciting.”
This year has also seen Florence + The Machine celebrate the 10th anniversary of their third album ‘How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful’. In 2024, Welch and co. played a one-off orchestral show at London’s Royal Albert Hall to mark the 15th anniversary of their 2009 debut album, ‘Lungs’. The concert, held as part of the BBC Proms, was captured on a live album called ‘Symphony Of Lungs’.
Earlier this summer, Welch joined The Maccabees on stage at Glastonbury 2025 for their closing Park Stage headline set, performing the band’s ‘Love You Better’ and her own ‘Dog Days Are Over’.
Elsewhere outside her work with The Machine, Welch joined Taylor Swift on stage at the final night of her European ‘Eras’ tour at Wembley Stadium last summer, with the pair performing their collaborative track ‘Florida!!!’.
She also made an appearance with Sampha on Everything Is Recorded’s single ‘Never Felt Better’ this year, and wrote music for a new adaptation of The Great Gatsby on Broadway.
