Sabrina Carpenter would love to be the next dancing queen, as she hopes to be cast in the next Mamma Mia movie, a source tells Star.
“Sabrina’s been obsessed with ABBA since she was a little girl, so it’s no exaggeration to say this would be a dream come true for her,” the source shares.
The source notes that the pop star, 26, has performed many ABBA songs at her shows, including “Dancing Queen,” when she opened for Taylor Swift on the Eras Tour.
However, while the “Espresso” hitmaker “really wants” the part, the source notes that she’s also “trying not to get ahead of herself. She’s trusting that if it’s meant for her, it will happen.”

Regardless, Carpenter — who starred in the Disney Channel show Girl Meets World from 2014 to 2017 — “is definitely going to be on the big screen soon because Hollywood is very interested,” adds the source. “She’s already proven she can act, but she’s not resting on her laurels; she’s been studying with a great coach.”
Mamma Mia producer Judy Craymer spoke to Deadline in May and shared what character she thought Carpenter would play if she were to appear in the film.
“She’d be a goddess or some relation who would look very much like Meryl Streep,” Craymer told the outlet.
