Jason Aldean revealed that a Las Vegas residency is “probably in [his] future,” years after surviving the fatal Route 91 Harvest Festival shooting.
“I look at things that are going on now like The Sphere out in Las Vegas, like, going and doing some residencies,” Aldean, 48, told Dax Shepard during the September 1 episode of the Armchair Expert podcast.
“[Kenny] Chesney just did his out there, and Shaun Silva, who is our video director too, did all the content for that… I think Backstreet Boys just did one – killer.”
The country star admitted he has no plans to retire, though he has scaled back his touring schedule from 200 shows a year to about “50 or 60” concerts.
Aldean’s comments carry weight given his history with Las Vegas. On October 1, 2017, he was performing at the Route 91 Harvest Festival when a gunman opened fire, killing more than 60 people and injuring hundreds.

“It was a festival like we’ve done a million times. It was just obviously something that we weren’t prepared for,” Aldean said on the podcast. He admitted it took years to process, but talking about the tragedy has become “easier.”
“You know, my bass player, my best friend for the last 25 years, [Tully Kennedy], his bass had a bullet lodged in it that he was wearing when we were on stage,” Aldean recalled.
“For our little family, our little crew, we got so lucky, not one injury to any of our guys. And you’re happy about that, but then you’re like, feel guilty… there’s like this guilt-ridden thing.”
