Sleeping in different rooms seems to be a growing trend for married couples seeking a good night’s rest, and country music star Dierks Bentley and his wife, Cassidy, are apparently a part of that crowd.
Bentley made the revelation on a recent episode of Bobby Bones’ “BobbyCast.”
Bentley, 49, and his wife have been married for nearly 20 years, and he explained that his sleep habits get turned upside down while he is on the road. So, he said, when he returns home to Cassidy and their three children it takes a lot of adjusting to ensure they each get a good night’s sleep.
“When I do get off the road, it’s like the No. 1 priority,” he said.
“My wife will be like, ‘How’d you sleep last night?’” he continued. “And we don’t even sleep in the same room right now anymore. We’ve moved beyond that.”
He further explained that he and his wife would get into bed and have different sleep experiences.
“I’m just even thinking about … the position,” he said. “I have three pillows (that) have to be positioned exactly the correct way. I’m just thinking about the process of getting to fall asleep. And all of a sudden she’ll jerk.
“I’m like, ‘You’ve got to be kidding me. You’re already out?’”
So, Bentley said, that is when he made the move on the sleeping arrangements.
“Years ago I decided to separate church and state and I got rid of our bed,” he said. “I’ve got two platform beds and two box springs and two mattresses.”
He said that allows his wife to “move around all she wants.”
Currently though, Bentley said that he has been an “animal” while trying to sleep, and that has pushed Cassidy out of the room.
“She’s sleeping on the couch now,” he said. “There’s an extra room we have, and she’ll go sleep in there. And even last night, we’re like, ‘We’ve got to get this back on track when I get off the road. We got to get back in the same room.’”
He said he hopes to make that happen by the end of the year.
