A popular nationwide entertainment venue has filed for bankruptcy and closed 11 locations, including two local locations.
Employees say the chain ‘Pinstripes’ says they were told on Monday that they no longer had jobs.
The announcement shocked customers holding events.
They reached out to 7 On Your Side with questions about the closures.
The two locations include Norwalk, Connecticut and Paramus, New Jersey.
Workers and customers say they felt like they got hit with a ton of bricks when they learned about the bankruptcy and closing.
Pinstripes offers food, bowling and bocce courts, which has made it a popular destination to host various events from parties to weddings and corporate events.
Founded in 2007, it quickly grew to 18 locations across the U.S. and now only 8 remain after the Chapter 11 filing.
The closure affects almost 900 employees across the country at the 10 shuttered locations.
Some customers say they only found out on social media or by showing up to work.
“We were here Sunday. Everything seemed to be okay and they were taking reservations for the following Sunday,” said William Carillo.
A mother and daughter arrived at the Garden State Plaza Pinstripes location after seeing on a Facebook page for Bergen County that it had closed.
Melanie Valenti and her Fiancé Ryan Cali, have a rehearsal dinner at the venue in a few weeks.
They paid a $2,200 deposit after winning a contest for a discount at the venue for telling their love story.
Now the couple from Saddle Brook, along with others holding Bar Mitzvahs and gift cards, were blindsided.
“They took our deposit and now we’re trying to get it back. Now we have to find another place in three weeks.No one from Pinstripes has reached out to us to let us know our party has been confirmed and our party is no longer happening,” Valenti said.
Those with event contracts were surprised to find out about the bankruptcy and don’t know what that means for their deposits.
“We lost thousands and there’s no hope of getting that back,” Valenti’s mom said.
“Yeah, and we’ve been trying to contact them and trying to email the people that have booked the parties and no one has got back to us,” Valenti said.

Documents define clearly what will happen at the venues that will remain open.
Debtors have requested the court’s permission to continue to pay wages, salaries, and other compensation that includes honoring gift cards, promotions, and refunds.
The bankruptcy includes a proposed letter to customers who have event contracts saying, “all event deposits at the continuing locations will continue to be honored.”
However, there’s little to no information about contractual obligations at the closed locations, like the Paramus store.
7 On Your Side reached out to Pinstripes Corporate Communications for answers about the deposits and received no response.
The company did create a bankruptcy customer service hotline at 888-832-5989.
