There’s no shortage of awards potential for The White Lotus tonight. The HBO hit is nominated for a whopping 23 Emmys this year for its third season (a number matched by Apple’s The Studio and just behind The Penguin and Severance, with 24 and 27 nominations, respectively) and among the potential winners is a possible first-timer.
Actress Aimee Lou Wood, who played the tragically romantic Chelsea on the resort drama’s latest season, is nominated for her first Emmy this evening for her turn as the astrology obsessed hotel guest. The actress just hit ht red carpet, lookin positively statuesque in a vintage-style pink satin gown with a ladylike train and peekaboo red bustier by Alexander McQueen.
After her nomination was announced, Wood took to social media to prove that fans weren’t the only ones who felt a deep connection with her dreamy White Lotus character.
“I’m sharing my ultimate Chelsea,” she shared alongside a clip of her and fellow nominee Walton Goggins from the series. “Whatever you think of her and Rick there is no denying that she experiences nirvana here. They are real. This is real. A glimmer. It doesn’t matter what came before or what comes after, in this moment she has total gratitude. I haven’t processed my @televisionacad nom but I know it was a glimmer for sure. I love you, Chelsea. Thank you”
While this might be her first Emmy nod, Wood isn’t a stranger to the awards circuit, having previously picked up a BAFTA for her turn as bubbly Aimee Gibbs on the British teen dramedy Sex Education in 2021.
