Barantini’s Show Adolescence Dominated the 2025 Emmys
It’s safe to say that the hit British crime drama Adolescence was one of the biggest winners at the 2025 Emmys, with the show taking home eight total awards. This includes the award for Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series, with the show up against The Penguin, Dying For Sex, Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story and Black Mirror.
Barantini personally won for Outstanding Directing for a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie, while the show also won for writing, casting and cinematography. Adolescence almost swept all the limited series acting awards as well, with Owen Cooper, Stephen Graham and Erin Doherty all winning in their respective categories.
During his acceptance speech for directing, Barantini thanked the ensemble cast, saying, “I’m in total awe of all of you.”
“To all the crew, this award is for them as much as it is for me,” he went on. “To Jack [Thorne] and Stephen [Graham], thank you for writing something so raw, so urgent, and so absolutely necessary.” He also thanked the producers and his family before signing off.
The director posted about the historic night on social media in celebration, sharing photos of everyone involved with Adolescence posing with their new awards. He captioned the update, “Wow! What a night! 🏆x8 Thank you, thank you, thank you! 💫.”
How Does Brown Know Barantini?
While it’s possible that Brown and Barantini have crossed paths before this, the first time they have collaborated in the entertainment industry is on the upcoming Netflix film, Enola Holmes 3.
Barantini is the director at the helm of the highly anticipated sequel, while Brown is reprising her title role as Enola Holmes, the younger sister of Sherlock Holmes and a fellow detective. The film franchise also stars Louis Partridge, Helena Bonham Carter, Henry Cavill and more.
