Reese Witherspoon’s ‘Heart Isn’t In It’ at ‘The Morning Show,’ Unlike Jennifer Aniston (Exclusive)

The Morning Show just returned for season 4 amid confirmation that it has already been picked up for season 5 — but an insider tells the National Enquirer that star and executive producer Reese Witherspoon may not be as involved.

“Reese had a great run on the show, but she’s looking to dial things back moving forward,” the insider reveals.

While Witherspoon, 49, continues to executive produce the show with her Hello Sunshine company, says the insider, “it’s very unclear right now if she’s going to continue her on-camera role full time.”

The Oscar winner’s “heart just isn’t in it” the way it is for her costar and fellow executive producer Jennifer Aniston, adds the insider. “Everybody who has gone to the set sees that for themselves.”

The former Friends star, 56, “has a love for the TV business and is a natural when it comes to her own producing duties,” says the insider. “It has really become Jen’s show, and Reese is proud of what Jen has accomplished, but it’s a lot harder for Reese to give this show eight months of the year the way Jen is able to.”

Aniston and Witherspoon both reportedly earn about $20 million per season for the show, “and Reese was instrumental in putting together that deal, but it’s not about money for her,” says the insider.

Witherspoon wants to prioritize her movie acting roles, as well as her return to Big Little Lies, shares the insider. “And most folks predict she’ll walk away from it, sooner rather than later.”

As National Enquirer previously reported, Aniston is already having “major anxiety” about Witherspoon being pulled away by other projects. “Reese loves working with Jen,” the source explained, “but she loves to do lots of different things.”
