The selection of ‘Homebound’ as India’s official entry to the Oscars has led to a wave of excitement on social media. After the official announcement, several actors extended warm wishes to the cast and crew of the film on Saturday.
The film featuring Ishaan Khatter, Vishal Jethwa and Janhvi Kapoor, will represent India in the Best International Feature category at the Oscars.
Kareena Kapoor Khan was amongst the first to congratulate producer Karan Johar and the creative team on social media. She wrote, “Congratulations to my love @karanjohar. To the incredible @neeraj.ghaywan, @adarpoonawalla, @apoorva1972, @ishaankhatter, @janhvikapoor, @vishaljethwa06, @reem_sameer8, and @dharmamovies. This is one film I can’t wait to watch. (sic)”
Arjun Kapoor expressed, “What a moment. ‘Homebound’ bags the Oscars entry. Kudos to @karanjohar, @apoorva1972,@adarpoonawalla and @dharmamovies, your vision and backing has brought such an incredible film to life. Janhvi Kapoor, I’m so proud of you. And of course, hats off to the entire cast and crew @neeraj.ghaywan, @ishaankhatter @vishaljethwa06. Damn excited for this one. (sic)”
Ananya Panday shared her excitement on Instagram, writing, “Wow!! This is incredible. Congratulations to the entire team. Can’t wait to watch this beautiful, heartbreaking film in cinemas. Everything that you make is a masterclass. So happy for all of you. (sic).”
Other notable names such as Sara Ali Khan, Neha Dhupia and Anil Kapoor also joined in congratulating the cast and crew.
Janhvi earlier expressed gratitude on social media. She wrote, “Every part of this film has been nothing short of a dream. The journey, the people, what this story means, and how personal it’s been for everyone in our team. At every step, I have been thankful I could witness this journey, which in my mind was truly a reward in itself. (sic).”
Ishaan shared the film’s poster, writing, “Unreal. This is just the most special film. (sic)” Vishal described the news as “surreal.” Both actors have called the recognition a highlight of their careers.
Vishal elaborated that every actor dreams of hearing this news one day. He expressed, “This moment feels absolutely surreal—it’s the kind of news every actor dreams of hearing one day. To know that ‘Homebound’ is representing India on the world’s biggest cinematic stage is beyond anything I imagined when I began my journey in films.”
“I’m incredibly thankful to Neeraj Ghaywan for believing in me and entrusting me with a role that challenged me as an artist. Working with Ishaan and Janhvi was equally special; they were supportive collaborators who made every scene richer,” the actor added.
‘Homebound’ is set to release in theatres on September 26, 2025.
