Pop star Swift released hew newest album, “The Life of a Showgirl,” on Friday. With the release comes a documentary showing in theaters this weekend.
On Friday, auditoriums filled up with Swifties who were, well, “enchanted” to watch “The Official Release Party of a Showgirl.”
Here’s a sample of what fans told Our Quad Cities News on Friday night:
“I laughed, I cried. It was amazing.”
“The music video is really good.”
ADVERTISEMENT“It’s very upbeat.”
“I liked the behind-the-scenes of it, because it showed how creative she could be.”
For some, they loved Swift’s commentary during the movie. For example, Swift tells her fans “I can see you.”
“It was kind of like you were face-timing Taylor, because she was just talking to the screen and it wasn’t like a normal movie,” said a fan.
The pop star, who made her break in the mid 2000s, now has generations of “new romantics” enjoying her music.
“My mom loves her too and we’re always listening to her,” said a fan who came with her mother. “I love listening to her music because whenever I’m feeling down it makes me feel really happy and my mood is just lifted,” said another fan.
Those waiting in line at the theater made friendship bracelets, an “invisible string” bringing fans closer. Some fans wore boas, others wore friendship bracelets, and others had various bling from Swift’s tours.
“I think it’s really cool how we can all come together and form friendships, even if it’s just for the day, ’cause we all have a similarity that we all come together to like Taylor Swift,” said a fan who made a bracelet with the number 13, signifying Swift’s favorite number.
A feeling they know “all too well.”
“She is unapologetically herself,” said a fan who has a tattoo of the title of the Swift song “Safe & Sound.” “She encourages you to be yourself. Taylor encourages love always, no matter what.”
