Canadian actor Eugene Levy was left utterly “charmed” by Prince William’s down-to-earth demeanor during a surprise appearance on his travel show.
The future king personally guided the star around Windsor Castle for an episode of the Apple TV+ series, The Reluctant Traveler.
Reflecting on his time with the royal, Levy enthused, “I was so impressed with the Prince of Wales. It was a charming few hours, that we had together.” William made some personal admissions during the interview.
Eugene added, “I don’t know what I expected, you know, from a royal. The monarchy has always been so very formal, but with William, you didn’t get that at all. He’s a dad who goes to work and then comes home and you know has dinner with his kids.”
William is a father to three children – Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis – with his wife, Kate Middleton.
Levy continued, “There’s a normalcy to it that just surprised me, it took me aback actually a little bit. He was so down to earth, very funny, very bright. Got to be honest, he was fun to hang with.”
The episode, titled Living The Royal Life In The UK, aired on Friday. It features William welcoming Levy to Windsor Castle while riding up on an electric scooter, reports the Mirror US.
At one point, William quips, “We provide this service for everyone. We do personalized tours everywhere.”

After touring the castle’s magnificent historic rooms, the pair head outdoors with William’s dog before stopping by a local pub, reports the Express. When questioned about his favorite home activities, William discloses, “Sleep. When you have three small children, sleep is an important part of my life.”
In the footage, William admits that 2024 has been “the hardest year I’ve ever had.”
He adds, “Life is said to test us, and being able to overcome that is what makes us who we are.”
Both William’s father King Charles and his wife, Princess Kate, received cancer diagnoses last year. While Charles remains under medical care, Kate completed a preventative chemotherapy regimen in September.
Discussing his family’s health challenges with striking candor, William recognizes, “We’ve been very lucky, we hadn’t had many illnesses in the family for a very long time. My grandparents lived until they were in the high 90s. So, they were the vision of fitness, and stoicism, and resilience if you like. So we’ve been very lucky as a family.”
He then references both King Charles’ cancer diagnosis and his wife Kate’s diagnosis. “But I think, when you suddenly realize that the rug, if you will, the metaphorical rug can be pulled from under your feet quite quickly at any point. You maybe think to yourself ‘It won’t happen to us, we’ll be okay,'” he explains.
“Because I think everyone has a positive outlook, you’ve got to be positive. But when it does happen to you, then it takes you into some pretty not great places.”
The Apple TV+ series was filmed in February this year, just weeks following Kate’s announcement that she had beaten cancer, which doctors discovered at the start of 2024.
The fourth installment of The Reluctant Traveler With Eugene Levy, called Living the Royal Life in the UK, debuted on Friday, October 3, on Apple TV+.
