Keith Urban has spent the last week since Nicole Kidman filed for divorce making headlines for his shocking behavior, including changing the lyrics to a song he wrote about the Big Little Lies star to serenade his guitarist, Maggie Baugh.
“Keith looks as if he’s out to try to publicly embarrass and hurt Nic,” a source told the Daily Mail. “This is a total 180 from the Keith I know. It seems like a switch has gone off in his head to awaken this vitriol he appears to have for her.”
The outlet reported that some insiders believe the “Somebody Like You” singer, 57, may be in a relationship with Baugh, 25.
Other insiders added that the Babygirl actress, 58, “seems dumbfounded” by Urban’s actions and had actually fought to save their 19-year marriage before eventually filing for divorce on Tuesday, September 30.
“I feel so bad for Nic. It’s like she’s reliving her split from Tom [Cruise] all over again,” one insider told the Daily Mail, comparing it to when the Top Gun: Maverick star, 63, filed for divorce in 2001, two months after their 10th anniversary.
In 2012, Kidman revealed she was blindsided by Cruise’s decision to call it quits. “I thought our life together was perfect,” she told Dujour magazine at the time, adding that she didn’t want the marriage to end. “It took me a very long time to heal.”
Now, she’s in the same situation, another source told the Daily Mail. “It has been a very sad and frustrating week,” said the source. “With a very heavy heart she is going through all the emotions right now and realizing that it is actually over.”
