While promoting his upcoming film The Running Man at New York Comic Con, Glen Powell shared a secret he picked up from legendary Hollywood action stars.
In the reboot of the iconic 1987 movie, the 36-year-old actor is set to play Ben Richards, a role originally portrayed by Arnold Schwarzenegger.
When asked if he had learned anything from past action icons that he could use in his own career, Powell responded, “That’s a great question. You know, I watch, I watch a bunch of those guys do a pump up before takes. Those guys, like, have weights on set. I stole that. All those guys gotta get pumped up ahead of time.”
Powell also mentioned his previous work with Schwarzenegger on Expendables 3 and shared a memorable moment from the set, “I got to ride a tank with Arnold Schwarzenegger down the closet for press for Expendables 3. Not that that was the peak of my life, but..”
He humorously added, “There’s no need for me to be in that movie. It’s all like, ya know, the most iconic action stars.”
In a desperate bid to win the $1B prize money to save his sick daughter, lead character Ben Richards is persuaded by the show’s ruthless producer to join the game as a last-ditch effort.
Viewership soars as Ben’s rebellious nature and survival instincts transform him into an unexpected crowd favorite and a challenge to the show’s previous status quo.
The thrilling panel for the upcoming blockbuster was showcased during the second day of New York Comic Con at the Javits Center in Midtown Manhattan.
Fans traveled from all corners to attend the panel, which was filled with admirers of Wright, King, and Powell.
The convention takes place from October 9-12, 2025.
