Or are fans reading way too much into a line that fits perfectly with her character?
In the scene in question, Selena’s character, Alex Russo, is giving advice to her daughter, Billie, about matters of the heart. “And if you really like this guy, you should follow your heart,” Alex says. She then adds, “As someone whose type is bad boys you think you can fix but you can’t, so you end up writing songs about them… I know what I’m talking about.”
Unsurprisingly, many viewers immediately linked that line to Selena’s personal life rather than Alex’s. After all, she has (allegedly) written multiple songs about her relationship with Justin, who could certainly be called a former “bad boy.” And, let’s be honest — Alex Russo isn’t exactly known for being a professional songwriter outside the show.
