Creators making cameos in their films is hardly new. It’s a tradition that began with Alfred Hitchcock back in the ’50s. And let’s not forget the late, great Stan Lee. That guy made some 37 appearances in various Marvel movies based on his many characters. Now, we can add James Gunn to that list. As discovered by the Twitter account Culture Crave, Gunn appeared in the crowd at the Foxy Shazam concert on the party boat in the season (series?) finale of Peacemaker. You can see a smiling Gunn as John Cena and Jennifer Holland rock out in the images below:
In case you’re wondering, no, that’s not just a random extra who looks a lot like James Gunn. That’s the white-haired head of DC Studios himself, having a good old time. The writer/director of the DCU series actually confirmed that it was him on the latest episode of Peacemaker: The Official Podcast. It was on the podcast that we also learned that John Economos actor Steve Agee, as well as two members of the band Nelson, who performed earlier in the finale episode, were also seen rocking out in the background in the scene.

On the podcast, Gunn elaborated, saying “I just said, ‘Come on guys, let’s all come out.’ The whole crew came out there, and a lot of our PAs went out there. We were all just dancing around. If you look in the very back, somebody might be able to freeze frame and find us back there.” And will you look at that, it didn’t take very long before someone did that very thing. The finale of Peacemaker season two was fairly divisive with many fans. But we think it’s worth watching a second time, if only to see everyone having such a good time.
