Alley Mills Wins Daytime Emmy for Guest Role on ‘General Hospital’

It was a big night for Alley Mills, whose powerful stint on General Hospital earned her the 2025 Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Guest Performance. Her win was met with thunderous applause and plenty of love from fans.

This year marks 60 years since Alley Mills, 74, started acting on TV. She has appeared in over 60 TV productions, including sitcoms, dramas, and made-for-TV movies. The one she is most recognized for is the ’80s beloved hit sitcom, The Wonder Years. She played mom, Norma Arnold, for the series’ 6-season run. Since 2006, she has found a home in daytime TV, appearing on both The Bold & the Beautiful as the kooky but lovable Pamela Douglas and General Hospital as the crazy Heather Webber.

Mills received her first Emmy nomination and win in 2023 in the category Outstanding Guest Performance in a Daytime Drama Series for her portrayal of Heather. She was nominated again the following year, but the Emmy went to Dick Van Dyke for his successful guest run as Timothy Robicheaux. When she was nominated for the third time this year, she again took home the award.

Mills used her acceptance speech to thank her family both on and off set, and then paid a heartwarming tribute to her late husband, Orson Bean, who died after being hit by a car in 2020. “I just got to give him love, ” she said, “I miss you, baby.”

Later in the ceremony, Olivia d’Abo, who played Mills’ daughter, Karen Arnold, on The Wonder Years,praised and congratulated her while presenting other awards. d’Abo was also a nominee in the category of Emerging Talent in a Daytime Drama Series for her portrayal of Fifi Garrett on The Bay. d’Abo wasn’t the only TV daughter whom Mills reunited with at the awards ceremony. She also had a touching reunion with Avery Kristen Pohl, who played her daughter Esme Prince on General Hospital and was nominated for the Outstanding Guest Performance in a Daytime Drama Series Emmy, along with Mills.

The other nominees for Outstanding Guest Performance in a Daytime Drama Series were Linden Ashby as Cameron Kirsten (The Young and the Restless CBS), Clint Howard as Tom Starr (The Bold and the Beautiful CBS), Jacqueline Grace Lopez as Blaze (General Hospital ABC), Valarie Pettiford as Amy Lewis (The Young and the Restless CBS), and Avery Kristen Pohl as Esme Prince (General Hospital ABC).

The 52nd annual Daytime Emmys took place in Pasadena, CA, on Friday, October 17, 2025, and were streamed live on watch.theemmys.tv and on the Emmys app.
