Rita Moreno has something to say about the controversy surrounding Bad Bunny being the Super Bowl Halftime Show performer.

The Puerto Rican actress chatted with Us Weeklyen Espanol at the 2025 Billboard Latin Music Awards on Thursday, Oct. 23, where she was asked her opinion.

“Bad Bunny at the Super Bowl? Ay, I’m delirious!” Moreno, 93, told the outlet. When Us Weekly mentioned that critics were upset because Bad Bunny isn’t “American,” Moreno replied, “So what? I’m Puerto Rican too. So what? What a nuisance!”

Moreno presented Bad Bunny (real name Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio) with the Billboard Latin Artist of the 21st Century award at the Billboard Latin Music Awards in Miami. When introducing the “Titi Me Pregunto” singer, Moreno spoke from the heart.

“When I was starting out, opportunities were few, and every small step forward was a victory. Today, I see an artist who brings that same strength, that same passion to the world — just like the one that helped me never give up. From my heart, Benito, it brings me so much joy to give you this award,” she said.

Moreno’s comments about Bad Bunny being named the Super Bowl Halftime performer come as thousands of signatures have amassed on a petition on Change.org. So far, more than 82,000 people have singed one particular petition that suggests that Bad Bunny be replaced by country music star George Strait.

Last month, the NFL confirmed that Bad Bunny would be taking the stage at Levi’s Stadium in California in February 2026.

“Super Bowl LX. Bay Area. February 2026,” the Puerto Rican rapper captioned an Instagram post on Sept. 28.
