Denison University’s Music Department will present “Lucky Stiff” this December.

Performances are scheduled for 7 p.m. Dec. 3-6 and Dec. 9-10, as well as 2 p.m. Dec. 7 in the Hylbert Family Studio Theatre of the Michael D. Eisner Center for the Performing Arts, 204 W. Broadway, Granville.

Admission is free, but tickets are required. For more information or to reserve tickets, contact Chris Montgomery at 740-587-6220 or visit denison.edu/events/arts.

“Lucky Stiff” is described as an offbeat, hilarious murder mystery farce. The plot centers on an unassuming English shoe salesman who must take the embalmed body of his recently murdered uncle on a vacation to Monte Carlo. The story includes elements of mistaken identities, $6 million in diamonds and a corpse in a wheelchair.

“Lucky Stiff” features a book and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens and music by Stephen Flaherty. The show is directed by Brad Frenette and is based on the novel “The Man Who Broke the Bank at Monte Carlo” by Michael Butterworth.

The musical was first produced Off-Broadway by Playwrights Horizons Inc. in 1988. The one-act version being presented at Denison is licensed through Music Theatre International, which also supplies all authorized performance materials.
