A “hilarious” comedy film boasting a stellar cast of recognisable faces is now available to stream on Netflix.
As the festive season winds down, subscribers are beginning to steer clear of Christmas films and are seeking entertainment to bridge the gap before New Year arrives.
One such option is a 2010 sci-fi comedy that follows three mates navigating tough patches: Adam faces heartbreak after being dumped, Nick finds himself trapped in a soul-crushing job, and Lou spirals as an out of control party animal.
When Lou attempts to end his life, the trio opts for a getaway to a crumbling ski resort – the very venue of the legendary Winterfest 1986, a journey they still hold dear.
Accompanied by Adam’s nephew Jacob, the group discovers a retro hot tub in their hotel suite, but events take a bizarre twist when they accidentally spill an illicit energy drink onto the tub’s control panel.
This mishap catapults them back to Winterfest 1986, and despite stern warnings against altering anything, their good intentions quickly crumble.
Leading the Hot Tub Time Time Machine ensemble as Adam is John Cusack, celebrated for his appearances in iconic 1980s productions including Sixteen Candles, Better Off Dead and Stand By Me.
He’s accompanied by Bookie’s Rob Corddry portraying Lou, Kick-Ass favourite Clark Duke as Jacob, and The Office favourite Craig Robinson taking on Nick’s role.
Completing Hot Tub Time Machine’s lineup is festive legend Chevy Chase, immortalised in National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, who plays the maintenance worker cautioning them about the hot tub’s dangers.
Despite Hot Tub Time Machine achieving a modest 64% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, devotees have been expressing their adoration for the film in the comments section.
Numerous admirers have branded it an “all time favourite” with one enthusiast declaring: “One of the funniest movies I’d ever seen”.
Another proclaimed: “Hilarious antics and non-stop fun and humor!”, whilst a fellow viewer commented: “This movie is a gloriously ridiculous blast from the past that never fails to make me laugh.
“Laughed all the way through”, one fan revealed as another agreed: “To me, it’s one of the real last modern funny films of this century.”
Hot Tub Time Machine is available to watch on Netflix.
