Classic winter holiday movies continued to dominate the Official Film Chart, the U.K.’s weekly home entertainment sales chart, through Dec. 31.
Warner’s Tom Hanks starrer The Polar Express, the 2004 animated adventure that follows a young boy’s Christmas Eve journey to the North Pole, moved up one spot to No. 1, followed by the studio’s Christmas movie Elf, starring Will Ferrell, James Caan, Bob Newhart and Zooey Deschanel at No. 2.
Vertical Entertainment’s Dracula, starring Caleb Landry Jones, Christoph Waltz, Zoë Bleu, and Guillaume de Tonquédec, jumped onto the podium from No. 17 in its fourth week on the chart.
Sony Pictures’ 2011 animated Arthur Christmas, starring James McAvoy, Jim Broadbent, Bill Nighy, and Hugh Laurie, moved up four spots to No. 4.
Last week’s No. 1, Universal’s Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale, ranked No. 5. The conclusion to the Crawley family TV saga delivers period drama, emotional farewells and a sense of closure for long-time fans.
Universal’s Jurassic World Rebirth — the latest big screen spectacle showcasing dinosaur species, starring Scarlett Johansson, rebounded five spots to No. 6.
At No. 7, Warner’s 1989 classic National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, starring Chevy Chase, Beverly D’Angelo, Juliette Lewis, and Johnny Galecki — up seven spots from last week in its 25th week on the chart.
At No. 8 is Universal’s Wizard of Oz-inspired musical Wicked, which explores the origins of Glinda and Elphaba, down one spot from last week.
Universal’s Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, the latest chapter in the “Bridget Jones” franchise, which was released in the U.S. exclusively on the Peacock streaming platform, moved up one spot to No. 9.
Finally, 2011 horror film, Nativity 2: Danger in the Manger, starring David Tennant, Marc Wootton, Jason Watkins, and Joanna Page, jumped two spots to No. 10.
