Stay up to date with New Zealand music releases with Rolling Stone AU/NZ’s weekly roundup.

Check out the best new music from Aotearoa acts released between January 12th-18th below!

WHO SHOT SCOTT – “Problems in My Head”

His first release of the year, WHO SHOT SCOTT’s “Problems in My Head” arrives as an eerily haunting introduction into a world of wonky synths, smacking drums, and raw vocal performances that trace his earliest experiences with anxiety and therapy.

Foley – “Cinematic”

Effortless cool, “Cinematic” is packed with catchy pop hooks and rooted in powerful synths, driving bass, live drums, and guitars. The track, the latest taste of Foley’s forthcoming EP Like an Actress (due out February 25th), is filled with Easter eggs for movie buffs, making references to Titanic, Casablanca, Interstellar, and more.

Alayna – “Animal”

“Animal” continues the powerful themes of self-love, romantic love, and love in womanhood that run throughout Alayna’s upcoming album Set Her Free (due out February 13th), following previous singles “Mother’s Mother”, “But It’s Lonely”, “Softly”, and “Hold Me”. The bossa nova-esque “Animal” also showcases a new side to the talented artist, which serves to amplify the messages that run through the 13-track album.

Six60 – “Knocking at Your Door” and “We Are All Kings”

The releases of “Knocking at Your Door” and “We Are All Kings” offer a snapshot of Six60’s upcoming album, Right Here Right Now (due out February 13th). Together, the tracks reflect the spirit of a band comfortable in their skin, still evolving, and still deeply connected to the people who’ve grown alongside them.
