Tim Allen has achieved a new goal in his personal religious journey. At the beginning of February, the voice actor for Toy Story announced that he had finished reading the entire Bible. This marks the end of an over one-year-long process for Allen.
He took to X to share the exciting update with his 1.2 million followers.
“Finished the entire Bible, it’s been a 13-month word-by-word, page-by-page, no-skimming journey. Humbled, enlightened and amazed at what I read and what I learned. I will rest and meditate on so much. I will begin it again,” reads Allen’s post.
In August 2024, Allen admitted to his followers on X that he had not yet read the Bible in its entirety. He posted, “Never took the time in all my years to ever read and really read the Bible.”
His message continued, revealing that he was actually in the process of reading the Bible: “Currently, almost through the Jerusalem Bible Old Testament and almost done with the Prophets. Next up to the New Testament.”
Allen’s reaction to the text at the time was “so far amazing and not at all what I was expecting.”
The average Bible, which contains 66 books, boasts a hefty word count of nearly 800,000, totaling over 1,000 pages.
Allen continued reading, later posting on his X account in October 2024 that he had reached the 26th book of the Bible. He announced that he was still on his path to finishing the text.
He wrote, “Continuing my reading of the complete Bible. Finished a rather intense Ezekiel, now on to Daniel. The challenge in reading this Book is how I translate words that the Eternal expresses to the temporary.”
He punctuated the message with a light-hearted joke, concluding with “I need a Snickers.”
Allen wrapped up the Old Testament in February 2025, writing on X that “the experience of re-reading, dedicated focus, and no drifting has made this a humbling, overwhelming experience. What a treasure. Three days into the New Testament.”
In June 2025, Allen shared his progress with fans on social media once again.
“Finished the Old Testament, and it is such a gift when I get out of the way and the words and meaning flow. This week I am now in the book of the Gospel of Paul. A Roman Jew familiar with Plato, Stoicism, and other Greek schools of thought. I am amazed in seven pages!” reads his post on X.
Allen’s recent February post celebrating his finishing the Bible garnered an impressive 211,000 likes on X, along with over 13,000 reposts.
The actor, who starred in 1990s hits like The Santa Clause and Home Improvement, currently features on the ABC sitcom Shifting Gears. Allen will reprise his role as Buzz Lightyear in the upcoming Toy Story 5.
